Configuring Kmail mail client for Gmail
Configuring Kmail mail client for Gmail
This howto will show you how to setup your Kmail client to work with Gmail.

Step 1:
From the menu above select Settings -> Configure Kmail

Step 1
Notice: In order to preview the image better click on it.

Step 2:

Here you should click on "Identities" and then in manage identities you should modify the existing one or add new identitie.

Here you should put your name, Organization and your e-mail address as it's shown in the example above.

Step 3:
Setting up POP3
You should click on "Accounts" from the menu in left. Then in right you should click on the "Receiving" tab. Here you should add a new account.

Account name: Any name you want
Login: Here you should put your gmail e-mail address
Password: Here you should put the password for your e-mail address
Host: You should put pop.gmail.com here.
Port: Here you should put 995
If you want you can mark the "Store POP password" checkbox so it won't ask you for password any time you try to access your e-mail.

Step 3
Here you should click on the "Extras" tab. In the Encryption area you should click on the "Use SSL for secure mail download" radio button. We are ready so far so you should click "OK".

Setting up SMTP
Again from the menu "Accounts" you should click on the "Sending" tab and add new account.

Here you should set it like this:
Name: Any name you want
Host: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Below you should mark the "Server requires authentication" option.
Here you should put:
Login: Your e-mail address with gmail
Password: The password for your e-mail with gmail
If you want you can mark the "Store POP password" checkbox so it won't ask you for password any time you try to send an e-mail.
Now you should click on the "Security" tab.

Step 3
In the "Encryption" area you should click on SSL. Now click "OK" and it's done.

It's done now. You can enjoy using Gmail over your Kmail mail client.
