SLAX is a Live CD distribution based on Slackware (wow , that's a surprise). It includes KDE desktop , its' size is about 250MB and you don't need to install it on your local hard drive since it is a live distro.
An interesting feature is the webconfig – with this tool you can save your current session on the Slax servers. And at a later stage you can start from where you stopped last time.
You can also copy the distro into the RAM and it will work from there. This will allow you to use the CD device once you have loaded the operating system.
Slax uses a specific packet system – the packet (aka Slax modules) are copied to the CD or the flash memory along with the rest of the system. You can make them out of regular packets using the software tgz2mo.The extensions of the files then will be .mo
