Paste as plain text in Pidgin (without formatting)

This tutorial will show you how to paste in plain text in Pidgin (without formatting the text). It works in my Ubuntu (with Gnome).

There are few simple steps.

1st.

Open the file /usr/share/themes/Default/gtk-2.0/gtkrc.

NOTE: Keep in mind that if you are using different theme you should change Default with the theme name you are currently using.

Once you have opened the file with your favorite text editor you can scroll down where the file end and insert the following lines:

######### Custom Code #########

binding "my-bindings"

{

bind "<ctrl>v" { "paste" ("text") }

}

widget "*pidgin_conv_entry" binding "my-bindings"

######### Custom Code End #########

Save the file.

2nd.

You need to restart your Pidgin. If this doesn't work try restarting the whole Gnome. If this doesn't work try adding this script to all themes you have. It works fine for me with Gnome 3.

Good Luck!
